A Literacy of the Imagination

a deeper look at innovation through the lenses of media, technology, venture investment and hyperculture

My Interview Segment on ThinkState Co-Development | Adaptive Technologies courtesy of @miamiadschool #MAS #SocialTech

This was an interview session that I did after I taught the inaugural communications planning bootcamp at the MAS School of Pop Culture Engineering back in November. Special thanks to A/V maestro Ralph Budd down in South Beach for putting this video together. Other than the fact that I drank a lot while I was there and developed two chins (no bueno for on-camera appearances...), I thought Ralph strung together the best pieces of my tech and brand ramblings and made them fit for wider consumption ;)

A few things to note on the development front:

We’ve actually redirected the offering for AdStiki to focus more on media management, and specifically, online remnant inventory.

We will also likely develop another version of the media management tool for AdTalker, which is already in POC/in-market testing with a couple of major brands.

Just FYI regarding AdTalker, for you hardcore ad and media technologists: no, social ads are nothing new; however, the core engine and backend we’ve built for this with our partners at TruEffect is very new, and we hope, revolutionary. We’ve been able to create a 1-1 framework that bypasses 3rd party serving, and one in which qualifies datasets by doing things such as writing clean new values (nGrams) to tags.

eCairn – the conversational monitoring platform - will relaunch next week with an entirely new (and much needed) UI/UX framework. The key differentiator between this and other tools such as Visible, Radian6 or Sysomos (which, by the way, all rock) is that this is an RSS-enabled versus search-enabled platform, which basically means that we look at the source first before we mine for the content (as opposed to the other way around), and we have a unique phrase mining capability through the core engine. We actually look at the eCairn offering as a complement to these other tools, and think that the potential API mash-ups with them could be quite powerful for brands and agencies alike.

Heardable is already in public BETA, but we are optimizing the database and addressing various speed issues with our core crawler (nothing too serious, we swear...); regardless, we will be ready to rumble for our debut @SXSW as an entrant in the inaugural Hive Awards (where I will be a judge, but obviously not in the chosen category...)

We are also reconfiguring the GIVEtweet offering to provide more in-depth analytics that are more social search-based; we are developing an SSP (paid inclusion) aggregation product that may dovetail nicely with GIVEtweet as a front-end conversion driver.

My colleagues from The Canadian Institute for the Future and I are also in rapid development on a new dynamic publishing platform called UBIQUID.US that we’ve coined as “socially curated journalism.” This will bundle all the core feature sets mentioned above, along with a unique microfinancing engine. Stay tuned, as we’ll be having a lengthy chat with the Stanford University IFTF.org group and a few folks from Google on Friday to flesh this out further.
